An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/ Charge Nurse on the Surgical Assessment Unit.
The Surgical Assessment Unit is composed of two units - 18 IP surgical beds and 30 assessment chairs for Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) that caters for multiple surgical specialities primarily General Surgery (Colorectal and Upper GI), ENT, Maxillo-Facial, Urology and Vascular. This is a continuously expanding unit with many opportunities for learning and self-development.

Your role is to assist the Ward Manager in the overall management of the ward and the co-ordination of the team to ensure safe and effective standards of care is achieved. Main duties of the job

Qualifications
* Registered nurse with significant previous experience in acute surgical ward based care
* Evidence of maintaining professional portfolio and learning development
* Intermediate Life Support
* Leadership and management experience/trainings
Experience
* Sound clinical practice within an acute surgical ward setting
* Evidence of mentorship/preceptorship roles
* Experience of formal/informal teaching
* Clinical experience in taking charge of day or night shifts
* Experience managing change
* Experience as a team leader
* Experience on same day emergency care pathway (SDEC) - care for surgical patients without the need for hospital admissions
* Bleep holding experience
* General surgery experience
