We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Disability Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Highpoint, an adult male category C Prison, located in Newmarket, Suffolk.
In this role you will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality. Also, you will have opportunities for training and development.
The working hours for this role are Mon - Fri from 08:00 / 09:00 - 16:30/17:30 (some weekend and bank holiday work will be required).
This position is full time, 37.5 hours (part-time working 30 hours can be considered).
You'll receive an annual salary up to £40,211 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing:
As a Learning Disability Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Develop specialist clinical skills in working with an offender population with a diversity of presenting problems, including psychosis and personality disorder, that feature alongside their learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder.
* Be responsible for making a clinical judgment with regard to their immediate needs and long-term treatment.
* Administer medication as prescribed by the doctor within the guidelines for medicines administration.

Qualifications & Experience required:
* NMC registered Nurse (RNLD)
* Evidence of continued CPD
* To have experience in or be willing to develop skills relevant to the clinical area.
* Be able to find and use new information in relation to patient care.
* Ability to provide a holistic package of care to patients whilst working within a multi-agency team within the prison system
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team working skills.
