The Shared Services Centre provides the administrative support for a broad range of essential day-to-day transactional activities of St John, including Finance, People, Property, Fleet, etc. From recruitment to paying suppliers, the Operations team are integral to the smooth and efficient running of the organisation and ensuring that St John people, customers and suppliers are fully supported in all their transactional requirements.
The Finance Operations Manager leads the Finance Services function covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fundraising and Treasury support. This team is responsible for resolving transactional requests and enquiries of over 1600 staff and line managers, >50k volunteers, as well as suppliers across SJA range of activities, dealing with complex queries and escalating as appropriate to ensure support of teams across St John.

About You:
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C / 4) including Maths & English, minimum 5
* Qualified CIMA accounting qualification or have equivalent experience
* Highly experienced in the leadership, analysis and management of transactional financial activities
* Ability to lead and deliver continuous improvement activities that positively impact on productivity, service delivery and working environment
About The Role:
* Develop, empower, and motivate a high performing team to consistently hit and exceed service level targets. Support and empower managers to provide excellent support to their people, both in technical expertise and good people-management.
* Be accountable for the delivery of high-volume transactional processing, ensuring that the charity’s polices, and processes are adhered to in respect of these transactions, and that financial, employment or reputational risk is minimised.
* Ensure appropriate processes and controls are in place to protect the integrity of the volume and range of financial transactions overseen, including that credit and collection processes in our Debt Management function and ensure they are fit for purpose.
* Ensure that financial processes adhere to SJA policies and procedures and always meet required accounting standards.
* Ensure that records are maintained in an accurate and timely fashion consistent with the regulatory and financial performance management needs of the charity.
