What you will do in your working day
Working within the Fabrication section, you will be responsible for the production of high quality components via the operation of modern manual MIG welders and welding robots.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and utilising Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to produce parts to varying sizes.
Responsibilities
* Identify specifications of the requirements through successful understanding of the engineering drawings and working instructions
* Prepare and load raw materials and parts by hand or through use of overhead cranes, safely and as per standard procedures.
* Production of first-off sample, prepared for initial inspection.
* Light and heavy duty grinding/dressing functions
* Basic plating and assembly tacking procedures
* Inspect and measure finished products, ensuring that the component quality requirements are met
* Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
* Assist in work centre housekeeping and any 5s activities
* Operation of Cobot welding robot (full training provided)
The training you will be getting
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
* Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
* Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
* Level 3 Metal Fabricator standard
College day release will be once a week at East Durham College.
