We are proud to be supporting Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council in recruiting a Communications Officer on a full-time, temporary basis.
Your new role
Solihull Council is looking for a talented communicator to join its central communications team, to support the Mell Square development programme – an ambitious redevelopment project that will transform Mell Square and make Solihull an even better place to live, work and visit. This exciting and high-profile development aims to create new space for high-quality retailers, restaurateurs, independent businesses, whilst also providing a range of new housing right in the heart of Solihull town centre.
As a Communications Officer, you will have experience working in public relations and communications with a wide range of organisations and be able to showcase excellent writing skills, as well as practical experience in social media and digital communications. In this new role within Solihull Council, you will be supporting the development programme for Mell Square with a varied mix of PR and marketing, and a little consultation and engagement thrown in. You will be developing communications strategies, managing stakeholders, delivering campaigns, and planning activities to support this significant project. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop communication skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. The role will involve working on a hybrid basis between home and the Council offices in Solihull town centre. This is a full-time position, and offers a hybrid working arrangement; when in office you will be based out of the Council House, which is a 5-minute walk from Mell Square.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you should have experience in a similar communications role, experience within the Public Sector, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be a confident communicator.
What you'll get in return
This is a full-time position offering hybrid working and will be based out of the Council House when in office. This is a temporary 3-month assignment and offers an hourly rate that will be paid on a weekly basis, with some flexibility dependent on experience.
