Context
CommsAudit has successfully developed a range of RF Monitoring and Direction-Finding systems and sub-systems and is well positioned to grow market share through a number of strategic projects both through prime contractors and direct to end customers. In order to sustainably grow market share, CommsAudit needs to strengthen its approach to producing reliable high-performance systems and sub-systems.
What you’ll be doing
The Quality Lead would be required to provide their expertise, guidance and support to Project Managers, the production team and other stakeholders in the execution of the quality management system, policies, and procedures, with the ability to challenge current thinking in a pragmatic and constructive manner.
1. Responsible for Company Processes and Procedures:
1. Support a review of existing production, QA and supplier management processes and procedures.
2. Lead and support buy-in and adoption across the business.
3. Support the roll-out and adoption of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
4. Continually review and improve processes and procedures.
5. Develop new product development and new product introduction processes.
6. Lead ISO 9001:2015/ISO 14001:2015 and other external audit/certification activities.
7. Ensure the Integrated Management System (IMS) is maintained and continually improved.
2. Responsible for Key Supplier Management:
1. Manage key suppliers including working closely with purchasing staff to establish supplier quality qualification and performance criteria.
2. Monitor supplier performance and identify potential new key suppliers to improve quality and/or margin.
3. Support the assessment of suppliers' product specifications and quality plans.
4. Supervise/conduct supplier audits where necessary.
5. Contribute to the ‘make-or-buy’ decision process and manage the procurement process where outsourcing is deemed appropriate.
3. Accountable for Quality Assurance:
1. Accountability for the quality of all outgoing systems and sub-systems.
2. Provide guidance and support (including Quality Plans) to Project Managers for special projects and custom developments.
3. Work closely with the production team (including test) to ensure QA processes are followed appropriately.
Essential Skills
Experience of developing and implementing a quality management framework in any industry is essential, preferably in an aerospace or defence environment. Experience of ISO 9001:2015/ISO 14001:2015 audit process is essential. We place as much emphasis on the right attitude and personality as experience. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive attitude and excellent communication skills.
