Role Requirements Clinical / professional Perform the clinical duties expected of a Clinical fellow at a level of ST 7/8 in Breast Surgery. Take part in parts of the treatment (as allowed within current regulations) and assessment services of the department as and when requested, and work within the policies and procedures of the organisation. Take patients history and perform physical examinations of a patient. Record the history and examination in the medical records (as per departmental and hospital standard of care). Work collaboratively with the clinical team, i.e. consultants, junior doctors, nursing staff, therapy staff etc. to encourage and ensure good working relationships. Deliver supervised and unsupervised out-patients clinics. Deliver supervised and unsupervised outpatient procedures. To communicate with GPs and other health professionals the outcome of clinical appointments in a timely fashion. To contribute to the development of efficient pathways of care in accordance with current best practice and national guidelines. To fully document all aspects of patient care and complete all required paperwork. Support and contribute to timely discharge planning including completing discharge summaries. Have, develop and maintain specialist medical knowledge. Keep up to date with current guidelines and maintain best practice. Provide highly specialised advice concerning care accountable for direct delivery advice to the multi-disciplinary team across organisations, primary and secondary care and accountable for ensuring good service delivery. Frequent concentration with work pattern being unpredictable concentrating for patient assessment, interruptions to deal with other clinical or service issues. Some report writing and attending meetings. Training is integral to the department, with supervision and mentorship. Study leave entitlement (financial and time) provided. Job Plan This is a part time post (32 hours) with no On call commitment. Managerial/Organisational Relationships The post-holder will be managerially responsible to the Service Line Clinical Director for Breast Services, and professionally responsible to the Medical Director. The post-holder will be required to comply with all Trust Policies, notably in relation to job schedule, appraisal and leave, in line with Departmental and Trust objectives. Key Working Relationships The post holders will interact with breast surgery, breast oncology clinical teams, nursing, breast imaging and admin teams as well as with other departments and healthcare staff in the hospital, and with General Practitioners.
