About the role
This is a new and exciting opportunity to develop your career as a medical education researcher. We are seeking to appoint a Non-clinical Research Fellow in Medical Education Research to support RDME in the delivery of new and existing medical education research projects. The post holder will also be expected to support in developing and designing the department’s public engagement, education consultancy, outreach, and equality activities. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop their own research profile and to lead on research projects that are of interest to them and the department. In addition, they will be expected to contribute to publications submitted to refereed journals and to help seek external research funding.
* The post is Grade 7, the annual salary for which ranges from £43, to £51, (including London Allowance).
* The appointment is available asap and is funded until April in the first instance.
* Any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
* Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.
About you
You will enjoy working as a key member of a highly productive research team working under the direction of the Director of Research, and your supervision team. Working as part of this team you will be interested in delivering research that advances the state of knowledge and understanding in medical education, ensuring the department’s research outputs reflect the objectives of RDME and UCL Medical School. This supervision team will support your continued development as a researcher, and as you progress to take on new leadership roles.
As the successful candidate you will have experience of conducting original research within a relevant field (healthcare, social or psychological sciences, policy) and will be expected to have prior experience of analysing both quantitative data (using multiple regression, multiple imputation, mediation analysis) and qualitative data (using thematic analysis, discourse analysis, narrative analysis). If you are applying for the job-share role you will be experienced in either quantitative or qualitative analysis.
You will be educated to doctorate level in education, medical education, psychology, public health, social science, or a closely related discipline with a good record of high-quality publications, collaborations, and other contributions to medical education research.
