An Employment Solicitor with 3-6 years' PQE is sought to join a top-tier team in Oxford. This role offers a chance to build a strong foundation for a successful career while handling high-quality corporate matters. You will be involved in challenging technical work from day one and provided with all the resources and support needed to progress.
This Employment team is looking for an ambitious associate (NQ-2 years) to join the Oxford office starting in March 2025. The successful candidate will have strong experience in employment law, with experience in the Higher Education sector being particularly desirable. You will work closely with partners in Oxford and Cambridge on higher education-related employment matters, as well as collaborate with colleagues across the firm on various employment issues. There will also be ample opportunities for business development.
Responsibilities:
You will handle a wide range of employment work and take part in business development. Key duties will include:
* Working on employment matters in the education sector, particularly in Oxford and Cambridge
* Involvement in Police Fed work
* General claimant work (mainly senior executives), respondent work, and corporate support
* Contributing to the Employment Team, Education Sector group, and Business Services Division
You will be expected to deliver high-quality commercial legal services, adhere to professional standards and ethics, and represent the firm positively at all times.
Essential & Desirable Criteria:
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, ambition, and a flair for business development. You should be willing to engage in limited advocacy and speak at training events. You must be admitted to the roll of solicitors (or due to qualify in March 2025), or a member of the bar, FILEX. Specialist knowledge in the relevant area of law and a willingness to learn and think creatively is desirable. You should have achieved all competency levels relevant to your level of qualification.
