Head of Wastewater Compliance and Performance
Full Time – 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements will be considered)

Are you passionate about compliance and performance? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Wastewater directorate as our Head of Wastewater Compliance and Performance.
This role will set and deliver the strategy for reporting on compliance and performance across the Wastewater directorate. This means you will monitor and report on our environmental permit, business process and statutory legislation compliance to ensure we meet all legal requirements whilst maximising performance opportunity across all Wastewater areas.
You will be an experienced leader, delivering high performing Wastewater Quality and Compliance, and Wastewater Performance teams. This means you will ensure activities align to quality standards and are carried out safely with your business unit.
The successful candidate will develop and own systems and processes across the Wastewater compliance and performance disciplines. As data is a focus of this role you will use intelligent analytics and performance monitoring to provide proactive insight into opportunities to improve Wastewater compliance and performance.
You will maximise the benefits of research opportunities through successful collaboration with our regulator Ofwat, Environment Agency, Water UK, UKWIR, and other external stakeholders. Engaging in the external environment you will identify opportunities and best practice to improve how the business operates. We’re looking for you to influence and work collaboratively with other service departments, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
As the primary point of contact for Wastewater environmental regulators both locally and nationally you will lead and influence on proposed changes. This includes effectively communicating changes to Wastewater environmental legislation to stakeholders across Northumbrian Water.
You will ensure the balanced scorecard metrics are utilised to improve business performance. It’s important for you to develop strong working relationships with industry peers and internal stakeholders. This will ensure our organisation is at the forefront of innovation and best practice.
About you
If you have proven experience in managing high levels of compliance and driving a performance culture in an asset management discipline, we want to hear from you.
You will have experience of leading a team through change to implement new corporate systems and changing the ways of working to achieve future outcomes. This means you will be innovative in your approach to developing solutions, working collaboratively with your engineering colleagues.
You will have experience developing and delivering strategy, plans, systems, and processes to deliver high quality outcomes. It’s important that you have proven ability managing stakeholders and senior leaders across multi-functional teams through your understanding of asset management, regulation, systems, and processes.
You will have a broad and technical understanding of different systems and operating regimes coupled with a detailed understanding of external factors influencing the industry including political, economic, social, and technological issues.
