Base Location: Perth
While this role is based at the OT Security Test Centre in Perth, there may be opportunities to travel to other SSEN Transmission sites for testing and research purposes.
Salary: £52,285 - £60,730 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

The Operational Technology (OT) Security Test Centre is a technical hub created for SSEN Transmission to facilitate the testing and cyber assurance of the wider Transmission OT equipment and systems.
The OT Engineer - Testing will be involved in the primary functions of this facility. You'll carry out testing of operational technology equipment/systems and develop secure device configurations and processes to help maintain the cyber security of our operational technology systems as well as delivering cyber security services in conjunction with the OT Field Engineers at SSEN Transmission substations.
There will be training and skills development opportunities in this role as well as the chance to attend ICS/Cybersecurity conferences throughout the year.
Key responsibilities for this role will include:
1. Conducting security assessments on operational technology devices and developing robust hardening configurations and processes.
2. Ensuring operational technology system configurations adhere to security standards and verifying vendor compliance with SSEN security protocols.
3. Executing project tasks efficiently and effectively.
4. Contributing to the development and enhancement of security processes and procedures, while critically evaluating and recommending improvements to existing practices.
5. Actively collaborating with OT Field Engineers and broader OT teams to support research and testing for both existing and new devices and systems.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
1. Proven experience in OT/IT cybersecurity.
2. Minimum qualification of HND in a relevant engineering or computing discipline, with a professional security management certification, preferably with an OT focus, such as Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) or equivalent credentials.
3. Comprehensive understanding of the key differences between OT and IT, and the unique challenges of implementing cybersecurity solutions in a substation operational technology environment.
4. Strong knowledge of network protocols and the security characteristics and operations of Windows and Linux operating systems.
5. Above all, an inquisitive mind with a passion for continuous learning and problem-solving.
