Job Overview
University Hospitals Dorset have an exciting opportunity to be a Staff Nurse as part of a small team providing support for Interventional Radiology patients in a newly created day care unit based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Main Duties of the Job
* Provide a high standard of quality care and patient experience without direct supervision across the IR day care unit.
* Practice autonomously (within the requirements of UHD and the NMC code of practice) and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person-centred evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.
* Take charge of the unit in the absence of a more senior member of staff on a shift basis.
* Assist in the management and organisation of the IR Day Case Unit.
* Support the Trust strategy of delivering a quality healthcare service for patients and their families.
* Work within and support the Trust objectives and the ward department philosophy and standards.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
* Uphold standards of safety and quality always putting the patient first and protecting them from harm.
* Ensure that the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the patient are protected at all times.
* Ensure that own practice is evidence-based.
* Liaise appropriately with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a manner to promote effective teamwork.
* Practice in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
* Ensure own mandatory training is updated.
* Identify and keep professional portfolio up to date.
* Be aware of national and local policies and initiatives which impact patient and nursing care.
* Ensure that all procedures and treatments are carried out according to Trust policies, procedures, and protocols.
* Assess the needs and plan the care of patients, evaluating progress to ensure the care remains appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Post Registration course related to surgery or interventional radiology
* Basic IT skills
* Medication and prescription management (non-IV and IV medication and blood products)
* Familiar with Ecamis, EPR, ICE
Knowledge
* Demonstrates the fundamentals of nursing care, knowledge, and practice skills.
* NMC code of conduct
* Awareness of patient experience, quality and safety agendas that support Governance Frameworks
