The Council is looking for a determined and ambitious individual to fill the role of Finance Lead, Grade 11, within the Financial Management service. This service is crucial in helping the Council achieve its challenging savings targets while supporting the City's exciting vision. The position will support the Children's Services and Education Directorate.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Children's Services, Heads of Service, and Managers to ensure budgets accurately reflect their service areas.
* Forecasting and Risk Management: Ensure the Council can provide accurate forecasts and identify risks and mitigations.
* Team Leadership: Lead and manage the finance team.
* Financial Modelling: Provide comprehensive financial modelling and advice to support the delivery of plans across service areas.
* Year-End Accounts: Responsible for the closedown of accounts at year-end and the completion of statutory returns and reports.
* Meetings and Reporting: Attend meetings with senior officers and contribute to statutory reports.
About the Candidate
We would love to hear from you if you have experience of the following:
* Local Government Finance Knowledge: Demonstrate a good working knowledge of local government finance.
* CCAB Qualification:
* Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to relay financial information to non-financial managers and build effective working relationships.
* Leadership: Ability to effectively lead, manage, and develop a team.
* Financial Advice: Provide financial advice and support for key capital and revenue projects, and support the development of innovative financial models.
* Self-Development: Personal commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.
