Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Reporting To: Quality Manager
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our clients team in Manchester. This role involves overseeing and ensuring compliance with PSW/PPAP activities both from suppliers and to customers. The successful candidate will coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring all quality, delivery, and specification requirements are met.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Manage and oversee PPAP procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
2. Coordinate project teams for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
3. Organize and lead cross-departmental meetings (Engineering, Programme, Quality, and Manufacturing) to track project progress.
4. Serve as the primary contact for both suppliers and customers, providing updates on project performance and addressing any issues.
5. Monitor supplier PPAP timings and readiness, ensuring all submissions meet required standards.
6. Compile and review documentation for supplier and customer approvals, including APQP preparation, FMEA, and Control Plans.
7. Conduct document alignment reviews with both suppliers and customers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
2. Strong IT skills and familiarity with quality-related software.
3. Excellent communication skills for engaging with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
4. Proactive approach to workload management and problem-solving.
5. Knowledge of IATF 16949 standards.
6. Understanding of PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and control plans.
7. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
8. Experience working across multiple projects with strict deadlines.
9. Strong influencing skills, with the ability to engage and lead individuals or groups.
10. Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
