There is an opportunity at Buckie Lifeboat Station for a Senior Station Technician to join the team. This role suits someone with mechanical expertise, resilience, leadership, and management skills, as well as the ability to keep Buckie Lifeboat in perfect operational order.

Your role
As a Senior Station Technician, you will ensure that the Severn Class All Weather lifeboat is maintained in optimal condition and that the station functions smoothly daily. You will also train volunteer crew members to ensure readiness for emergencies.
Your responsibilities include:
* Inspiring and motivating your team; supporting their development, conducting shore-based training, identifying improvement opportunities, and sharing your knowledge.
* Engaging with the public about your station’s work.
* Leading on Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment issues, fostering a positive station culture.
* Managing daily station operations, including email correspondence, record keeping, and collaboration with the Operations Team.
About you
You should be capable of building effective relationships with volunteers, supporters, and RNLI staff, acting as an ambassador within the community. You should hold or be willing to obtain the necessary qualifications and competencies for this role. Attitude and willingness to learn are crucial.
You will be motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, problem-solve, and support others' development. High interpersonal skills and pride in your work are essential.
To qualify as a Senior Station Technician at Buckie Lifeboat Station, you need:
* Time served engineering apprenticeship or proven experience in mechanical/electrical/electronic engineering, including marine diesel engines.
* Leadership and management qualities to motivate and develop your team.
* The potential to qualify as an RNLI ALB Afloat Mechanic.
* Experience as a Lifeboat Mechanic or similar role, with willingness to develop seagoing skills.
* Residency in Buckie to respond to pager demands.
