Working alongside our Course Leaders and fellow construction specialists, you’ll design and deliver engaging lessons that blend hands-on practice with theoretical knowledge. Your lessons will be taught in our state-of-the-art CUBE centre workshop and will ensure our students gain valuable experience with professional tools and materials while learning essential industry techniques and standards. What You’ll Be Doing Delivering engaging lessons that cover all aspects of bricklaying, from fundamental techniques to advanced skills, ensuring students develop the knowledge and confidence to succeed. Planning practical demonstrations in our dedicated workshop space, allowing students to refine their skills in real-world conditions. Teaching key bricklaying methods, including cavity wall construction, solid wall structures, feature work, decorative panels, and industry-standard best practices. Providing constructive feedback and assessments, tracking student progress, and supporting learners to achieve their qualifications and career goals. Maintaining a safe learning environment by enforcing health and safety procedures, particularly during practical sessions. Keeping course content up to date by working closely with colleagues, ensuring training aligns with industry developments and employer expectations. Building relationships with local employers and industry professionals to enhance students’ understanding of career pathways and apprenticeship opportunities. Managing learning resources effectively, ensuring students have access to the materials and tools they need to succeed. About You You’re a skilled bricklaying professional who takes pride in your craft and enjoys helping others succeed in construction. With hands-on experience in bricklaying, you have a strong understanding of key techniques such as cavity wall construction, solid wall structures, feature work, and decorative panels. You know the industry standards inside out and are committed to delivering quality workmanship. You’re a great communicator who can connect with learners from all backgrounds and skill levels—whether they’re complete beginners or looking to refine their expertise. Patience, adaptability, and a supportive approach are key, as you’ll be guiding students through both theory and hands-on practice. If you’ve previously taught or trained others, that’s a plus—but what really matters is your enthusiasm for passing on your knowledge. A teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or Cert Ed, would be beneficial, but if you don’t have one yet, we’ll support you in gaining it. Organisation and flexibility will be important as you plan lessons, track our students’ progress, and keep them motivated. You’ll also play a vital role in maintaining health and safety standards, ensuring a safe learning environment for all, especially during practical sessions. Required Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or extensive industry experience. Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards a Level 4 PGCE if not already obtained). GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification). Hands-on experience in the industry, demonstrating sector expertise. Ability to teach practical Bricklaying sessions from beginner (Level 1) to advanced (Level 3).
