Summary of Overall Role Purpose We are a conveyancing firm that delivers exceptional residential property legal services across the UK. We are looking for a Finance Officer who will play a pivotal role in supporting our financial health, ensuring compliance, and supporting our growth with insightful financial planning, including the preparation of financial forecasts and control/responsibility of company budgets. The successful individual will be a head of finance designate subject to performance in running the accounts department and associated tasks. Role Overview The Finance Officer will support the Finance Manager in maintaining the organisation's financial integrity and efficiency. This position manages daily financial operations, including processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, and ensuring compliance with established financial regulations and company policies. The Finance Officer will assist in preparing financial reports, budget management, and cash flow analysis. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. This role is essential for the smooth functioning of the finance department and contributes to informed decision-making within the organisation. Key Responsibilities Process and manage financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and budgets. Support the Finance Manager in monitoring cash flow and forecasting financial trends. Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulations. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly. Provide support for audits and prepare relevant documentation as needed. Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations. Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing processes. Respond to financial queries from staff and stakeholders. Identify and report potential financial risks or areas for process improvement. Team Collaboration: Represent finance across the business, working closely with the team to support their financial needs. Required Qualifications & Experience Education: Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred, though Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidates will also be considered. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role. Technical Skills: Proficient in financial software, particularly Xero, and proficient in Excel skills for analysis and reporting. Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
