Would you like to help make a real difference to the students in our school? Are you objective and inquisitive? Would you like to drive improvement and outcomes for all students? Then join our Governing Board.
The governing board members:
1. Set the strategic direction for the school.
2. Hold the Executive Headteacher to account for school finances and student outcomes.
3. Work to improve outcomes for every student across Linwood; governors are “eyes on, hands off”.
4. Are filled with experienced and tenacious governors who have ambitious outcomes for the whole school community.
Your commitment:
1. Five, 2-hour Full Governing Board meetings a year, 10am-noon on Wednesdays, virtual via Teams.
2. Be a member of one committee depending on your experience and background, either Personnel and Wellbeing, Learning and Achievement, or Finance and Asset Management. These sub-groups meet virtually once a term, Wednesday mornings for 2 hours (3 per year).
3. Pre-reading for meetings - come with questions!
4. Induction and ongoing training – mainly online, occasionally in-person.
5. Visit a campus to meet with staff and students, as directed by the board, no more than once a term.
6. Collectively, governors support the Executive Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team to lead the school. It’s a real chance to make a difference for all students within the school.
7. Governors learn many skills and gain a deep knowledge of Special Education. There are opportunities for leadership and personal and professional growth.
