Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional with a passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff in educational settings? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Health and Safety Advisor (Schools) to join our dynamic and supportive Health and Safety Team, reporting to the Health and Safety Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective management of health and safety within schools across West Berkshire, working alongside a diverse range of stakeholders. The Role As the Senior Health and Safety Advisor (Schools), you will be the primary point of contact for health and safety advice and support for schools within the West Berkshire Council area. Your key responsibilities will include: Providing expert health and safety advice and guidance to school leaders, governors, and staff. Conducting audits and inspections of schools to identify hazards and assess risks. Supporting the Health and Safety Manager in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures. Delivering health and safety training to school staff, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Investigating incidents and accidents, providing recommendations for improvement. Collaborating with other Council services to promote a positive health and safety culture. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: Extensive knowledge and experience in health and safety management, specifically within an educational environment. Relevant health and safety qualifications, such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. Strong advisory skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team.
