The Vascular Surgery Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are pleased to announce that 2 x 12 month Senior Clinical Fellow posts will shortly be available. One is to commence in February 2025 and the other is to commence in April 2025. MBBS and MRCS or equivalent are essential. The posts do not award a National Training Number. As the posts are not recognised as 'training posts', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of the post are equivalent to ST3+ level.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity to join a busy vascular centre in one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK. Sheffield Vascular Institute is a tertiary referral centre for the management of complex arterial and venous diseases. We work closely with, and provide support to, a wide range of other specialities and services including: Transplant Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Cardiothoracic, and General Surgery.
The out of hours on call commitment is for the Acute Vascular and Transplant emergencies. The on call work is off-site residing within less than 30 minutes of travel time. The expectation is to attend in person on site (Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) when needed. There is opportunity to attend some elective vascular access lists.

* Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (Intercollegiate MRCS) or equivalent
* Basic Medical Degree MBChB or equivalent

* Experience in making clinical decisions, knows when to seek help and able to prioritise need
* Competence at ST3 entry equivalent level in the basic operative and non-operative management of surgical patients
* Ability to assess published clinical research and incorporate it into practice
* Evidence of previous clinical practice as a doctor in the NHS (excluding observerships)
