We are looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing a large part of our monthly and quarterly reporting and providing technical accounting advice to BU's.
Job Description:
Areas of Responsibility:
1. Support monthly, quarterly, annual reporting and consolidation processes with focus on accurate and timely reporting (in a company owned by a publicly listed Company)
2. Safeguard that new accounting policies are being followed and rolled out in all the companies in the portfolio
3. Assist the companies in the Portfolio with accounting and reporting related questions - responding to queries and assist with rolling out new IFRS standards and reporting requirements to finance functions within the portfolio
4. Participate in Due diligence and Integration of newly acquired companies, hereunder ensure they follow our accounting policies, and that we have correct Opening balance and purchase price allocation documents.
5. Take the lead on intercompany reconciliations, management fees and royalties and ensure Transfer Pricing agreements are in place in the portfolio and co-ordinate the posting of these
6. Oversee and coordinate Internal Audits from Parent company and support external audits if needed and seek opportunities to identify efficiencies in audit processes and help ensure timely completion of audits
7. Coordinate Portfolio internal 'Peer Review' program, combining (i) collaborative governance and (ii) spreading best practice in Quarter End process and controls. Personally undertake 1-2 peer reviews on-site per year across the portfolio.
8. Safeguard the risk and control environment in the portfolio, ensuring all companies have Risk Control Matrices in place and that they follow their approval matrix in practice
9. Ensure all companies make proper reconciliations and upload them into our reconciliation tool, Blackline, and become the superuser of Blackline
10. Use initiative with other proactive projects, from time to time, that can enhance the Portfolio systems, processes or policies.
11. Ensure control of chart of accounts in Netsuite
12. Respond to ad-hoc requests from the parent company in a timely manner
13. Ad-hoc analytics and other reviews of business performance as required
Profile:
1. The right candidate is a certified/chartered accountant, with at least 3 years' experience, potentially having worked for one of the Big 4 accounting companies or in a similar role in corporate accounting
2. Very strong accounting skills particularly on IFRS, including revenue recognition
3. Enjoys and is enthusiastic about technical accounting and ensuring correct accounting treatment is applied
4. Preferably comes with experience with Risk management and Audits
5. Thrives in working to meet demanding reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment and is very hands-on
6. Strong Excel skills and keen to learn and use new systems (particularly Netsuite)
7. Fluent in English. Language skills in German or any other European languages is an advantage, however not a requirement

Practical:
1. Travel opportunities to other business units (for peer reviews) both in the UK and internationally, as well as expected attendance at European Finance summits (total travel away from home estimated 2-3 times per year for several days at a time)
2. Workplace is flexible - this is a hybrid role and we operate in a virtual environment - the expectation is to be in the Chippenham office once per week and more frequently if necessary early on to facilitate a smooth handover
