A new opportunity to join our Legal and Governance (LeGo) team has arisen for a Governance Manager. This role will play a vital role in supporting the GRL Board of Directors, ensuring compliance with governance-related obligations, and implementing effective policies and processes. About the role: You will support the GRL Board of Directors and its committees and ensure good governance and compliance, including managing meetings, agendas, secretariat for the meetings, taking clear and concise minutes of meetings and following up actions agreed at these meetings. You will ensure that GRL complies with its governance-related obligations, including Articles of Association, the Companies Act and the requirements that apply to it as a charity. You will manage and successfully implement projects or initiatives to put in place standard policies, processes and documentation to ensure good governance, including those relating to conflicts of interests, anti-bribery and modern slavery. You will provide general support on an ad-hoc basis relating to work being managed by the Legal & Governance team. Essential Skills: Strong experience in governance and/or company secretariat Proven strong experience of organising board meetings, agendas and taking accurate and concise minutes Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail Strong experience in using Microsoft packages, for example Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and able to learn new computer skills quickly Experience in working to multiple deadlines and managing competing priorities Ability to deal with confidential and/or sensitive information with exceptional diplomacy and tact, and a high level of professionalism Excellent inter-personal and communication skills "Can-do" attitude focused on looking for solutions Positive, open-minded, team-player with a flexible approach About Us: The Legal Team is responsible for drafting and negotiating all agreements related to our activities. The Research Governance Team manages the complex ethical requirements of our research and the Corporate Governance Team supports GRL Board and its committees to maintain best-practice standards and processes.
