How you’ll make a difference As a Lead DevOps Platform Engineer, you'll spearhead the transformation of our banking technology by shaping our platform engineering function from its early stages. You’ll focus on technical excellence and thought leadership while having autonomy to make impactful architectural decisions without line management responsibilities. You'll design and implement self-service capabilities that streamline workflows, reduce cognitive load, and create a seamless "platform as a product" experience. You'll lead technical direction for CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and developer experience initiatives while balancing innovation with legacy environments. Through leadership and mentorship, you’ll transform manual processes into automated, reliable workflows, while fostering DevOps practices to define how we deliver software for years to come. What you’ll bring Proven experience designing and implementing developer self-service platforms with a track record of transforming DevOps toolchains from legacy to modern approaches (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Artifactory). Architectural leadership with ability to make strategic technology decisions with imperfect information while balancing new development against legacy support (Platform Architecture, Technical Strategy). Strong cloud platform engineering expertise with focus on containerization and infrastructure automation (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker). Passion for infrastructure as code and GitOps approaches with commitment to eliminating manual processes (Terraform, ArgoCD, no click-ops). DevSecOps integration expertise to build security automation throughout the software development lifecycle (SCA, SAST, DAST tools). Technical communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and manage vendor relationships while maintaining technical control. Genuine passion for platform engineering as a discipline combined with developer experience optimisation mindset, balancing theoretical understanding with practical ability to measure and improve platform adoption (Internal Platforms, Team Topologies, Golden Paths, DX metrics). Proficiency in programming and scripting languages with solid understanding of solution architecture and best practices for building scalable, maintainable systems (Python, Bash, Git workflows).
