Job Title: Junior Software Engineer

Salary: £35,047 - £45,154 (Commensurate with skills and experience).
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be working on world beating aircraft products, creating cutting edge software for our hardware systems and be involved in the entire lifecycle of a product, from design and development to integration. Working closely with systems and test engineers, you will enable the development of complex real-world systems that have to perform perfectly every time, as they will be used in real world combat. This could be on our Eurofighter Typhoon, our aircraft simulators, the F-35 or even helping define the future of air defence on Tempest.
Essential Skills and Experiences:
* Either of:
o A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM subject
o A HNC or HND in a STEM subject plus relevant full-time work experience
* Innovative and creative problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and team-working skills
* Self-motivated and pro-active with an eagerness to learn
Desirable Skills:
* An understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements & design through to delivery
* Familiarity with software development processes (e.g. design, coding, unit testing), experience of development tools (e.g. UML design tools, code IDEs)
* Experience in at least one of:
o Embedded software C++/Ada/Rust
o Desktop-based applications (Java and Eclipse RCP or C#/C++)
o Web-oriented applications and services (Java/C#, JSP, HTML, CSS, Apache middleware)
o Business intelligence/analytics tools and techniques (ETL, SQL, Python)
o Windows or Linux target environments
o Object-oriented design/development including UML

The Air Software Engineering Teams:
Working within a large team, this role will provide you with mentoring, support, training and guidance provided by experienced team members who will teach you how to develop software solutions that make a real difference to our customers in battlespace on a daily basis. You will learn to design, implement, maintain, debug and upgrade software products applying your academic learning into the real world.
