Who You'll Work With
The Legal team is embedded within the heart of the business and you will report into the Head of Legal (also Head of Compliance and Company Secretary). You will work closely with customer facing stakeholders, such as Operations and Sales, as well as colleagues in Procurement, HR, IT, and Data Protection. You will work with Board Members and act as the face of Legal, and will also work with the global General Counsel and other international lawyers within the business.
What You'll Be Doing
A varied and interesting role, you will support the whole organisation on UK legal and compliance matters. You will make sound business decisions and provide accurate and timely legal advice on a whole range of principles and procedures on legal and commercial issues.
You will negotiate, review and advise on new contracts with customers and suppliers and ensure the business is run in accordance with its governance policies and procedures. You will advise on disputes (including utilising external law firms as appropriate) and strategies for effective resolution.
As a truly global business, you can expect to work on commercial transactions and legal matters with cross border and international elements. You will work on outsourcing transactions, transfers of assets, KPIs and TUPE (also utilising external law firms) and all manner of freight forwarding and multi model logistics issues.
You will gain (if you do not already have) good working knowledge of international conventions and trading conditions, such as CMR, Hague Visby Rules, Warsaw Convention, Montreal Convention etc.
About You
You are likely to have at least 3 years' experience (not necessarily post qualified experience) in commercial work - whether gained in house or private practice, including as part of a training contract.
You will be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and have the ability to build strong client relationships and gain the trust and confidence of the business. This role will suit a self-starter who is motivated and has energy and drive.
