Practice Type: Independent practice that is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a tier 3 veterinary hospital. They are very proud of our hospital status and also have 2 branch practices.
Facilities: Their surgeries are equipped with modern facilities, as well as being friendly, comfortable, and inviting for both clients and pets. To ensure rapid and accurate diagnosis, they have invested in state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to assist us:
* Waiting area and consultation rooms
* Surgical Suite
* Separate cat and dog wards
* In-house laboratory
* Imaging Suite
* Electrocardiography and doppler ultrasound
* Orthopaedic equipment

* Dermatology referral clinics
Team: Their veterinary team comprises five full-time vets and a part-time vet who work across all three practices. Their nursing team is highly skilled and takes on important roles within the practice. They are an accredited veterinary nurse training practice which means that their nurses can receive first-class training to maintain the high standards of care that patients require.
Role: They are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who will medically and surgically assess and treat animals in line with the standards and protocols laid down by the practice and the RCVS.
Duties:
* Perform consultation and medical treatment of animals
* Undertake surgical operations (including neutering and general surgery)
* Provide emergency and out-of-hours qualified veterinary cover on a roster basis
* Maintain clinical notes and keep clients updated regarding the pets' treatment and any laboratory results
* Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance
* Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety
* Promote special offers, nurse clinics, and other relevant practice news to clients
* Supervise support staff and direct and advise accordingly
* Maintain commercial awareness and manage clients' expectations with detailed estimates and regular updates
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public
* Handle and support other staff with general client inquiries
* Undertake continued professional development associated with the role following the RCVS guidelines
* Other occasional duties at the discretion of the practice manager or practice principal
Hours: Based on a weekly rota issued in advance
* Start time 08:30 unless on ops in which case 08:00
* Finish time will depend on rota but between 17:30 and 18:30 on a standard day
* No overnight on-call but once a week on-call to 21:00 (13:00 start on these days)
* 4 days per week - One full day off each week if not following a weekend
* Shared weekend rota meaning 1 full weekend in 5 – consults on Saturday and Sunday morning and on call until 17:00 Monday and Friday off the week following a duty weekend
Candidate Requirements:
* Must hold a full driving licence and drive own car which must be insured for business use
* Required to live within an agreed commuting distance from the practice
* Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
* Post-qualification experience in small animal practice
* Some experience with large animals would be helpful on occasion
* Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
* Strong organisation and time management skills
* Customer/client focused
* Able to work well under pressure
* Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
* Team player
