Job Description
Have you changed to a new Catering Contractor or are changing, why not go for a new role with Caterlink in Exeter at Exeter College Term- Time Chef/School Cook Supervisor working 7.30 to 3.30, 39 weeks a year
We are looking for a good school cook / chef who would like to work term-time running a busy College Cafe. The menu is varied with all food cooked from scratch so a good understanding of food and trends is essential, along with a high expectation for food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety as well as loving leading a team.
The role would cover proactive management of kitchen team consisting of an assistant cook and front of house supervisor who manages the FOH team of 3.
You would be supported by the back of house team who manage the finance and placing the orders as well as a fulltime Assistant GM and part time GM.
You would be accountable for maintaining, ordering and controlling food stocks within budget. Innovative menu planning within specified budgets ensuring high standard of food presentation and portion/quality control.
As well as managing COSHH, Food Safety, H&S, legal regulations, environment policies and duty of care to customers and colleagues within the cafe
Ideally you would be someone with previous catering experience within a similar food quality environment either a large school or college or wanting to have a work life balance and have relevant

The Role is for 39 weeks a year with 5 weeks holiday pay which is 195 working days. No holiday is allowed outside of the closed periods, so all holiday is deemed to be within these times.

Hours & Salary
The hours are 7.30am to 3.30pm with 30 mins unpaid break, this equates to 37.5 hours per week, Term start 22nd August 2025, with Oct 1 week off, Christmas 2 weeks off, Feb 1 week off, Easter 2 weeks off, May 1 week off and July and Aug 6 weeks off.
The weeks are 44 paid, with an hourly rate of up to £15.5 per hour for the right level of experience and skill
This equates to about 25K per year – just over 2k per month
