Your new company
Hays Senior Finance have been retained by a family-owned SME manufacturing business in the Worcestershire area as they look to appoint a new Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The company has experienced strong levels of growth in recent years and, as such, are keen to bring in an experienced individual who has aspirations of becoming a Finance Director in the future.
Your new role
Reporting into the Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for leading on all finance and accounting operations locally whilst managing a small, well-established team.
Main duties:
1. Managing the day-to-day operations including AP, AR, NL, cost accounting, stock accounting and payroll
2. Co-ordinating month-end and year-end close processes
3. Co-ordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and other financial forecasts
4. Preparing and publishing monthly financial statements
5. Overseeing the audit process including the preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with auditors
6. Cashflow management
7. Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
8. Supervision and management of the finance team (5 staff)
9. Streamlining and improving financial operations, processes and systems
10. Support with financial strategy and decision-making
What you'll need to succeed
11. Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post-qualification experience
12. Previous experience in the preparation of management accounts, year-end financial statements, budgets and projections
13. Proven track record of operating at a high level within an SME organisation, preferably within the manufacturing sector
14. Able to work closely with both financial and non-financial staff
15. Persuasive and determined personality with the confidence to challenge and influence
16. Possess the ability to motivate, manage and develop staff
17. Strong Excel skills and highly proficient with accounting packages (Sage an advantage)
