ABOUT THE WORTHGATE SCHOOL
The Worthgate School offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 13+ from all over the world. Students study for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere. ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking to appoint an Accountant. You will need to understand budget control, month-end workflows, and ensure processes are aligned to balance business needs and internal control requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent stakeholder management who can build relationships quickly and likes to partner with the wider business. You will need to be a confident communicator and a team player with a flexible approach to your work.
The role is responsible for:
1. Account payable management, processing invoices, dealing with payment inquiries, posting/reviewing/approving invoices and credit notes, and ensuring they’re coded correctly.
2. Ensuring all account payable activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures.
3. Budget Management, supporting the headmaster and budget holders, regularly updating the school budget status, reviewing and approving school daily expenses.
4. Delivering the monthly closing process, analyzing transactions and preparing required journals.
5. Processing journals and ensuring all accounting entries are supported by working papers for analytical review and audit.
6. Completing account reconciliations to review and clear the balance sheet account, including prepayments/accruals/payroll accounts, reviewing the P/L including revenue and cost allocation, maintaining appropriate documentation to support the audit.
7. Supporting the FP&A team and preparing monthly management reports and analysis.
8. Supporting the finance reporting team, including audit inquiries, tax filing, etc.
9. Providing support, assistance, and cover across the wider finance team to manage team absences and peak periods.
The role does not manage any direct reports but coordinates and cooperates closely with financial and non-financial colleagues. You will form part of a close-knit, energetic team who are focused on providing value-added support to the Group.
