Your role: The Sun is looking for a talented individual to help lead the development of The Sun’s SEO strategy in a world of AI.
Day to day you will:
1. Help grow organic search, Discover and Google News on all four of The Sun’s domains - thesun.co.uk / the-sun.com / thescottishsun.co.uk / thesun.ie
2. Optimise The Sun’s content for large language models
3. Help drive sign ups to The Sun Club (The Sun’s premium content offering)
4. Lead The Sun’s trending content output
5. Lead The Sun’s live blog strategy
6. Feed into The Sun’s forward planning meetings
7. Own the SEO strategy for specific sections
8. Analyse and report back to the newsroom on SEO successes and failures
9. Perform competitor analysis and identify opportunities to improve and overtake in key markets
10. Monitor algorithmic changes and developments and help recommend actions to relevant teams
11. Communicate with the newsroom on big breaking stories
12. Be a go-to person for journalists and reporters seeking SEO advice
What we’re looking for from you:
1. Strong understanding of daily news trends, as well as what is working long-term
2. Good relationships and strong communication with the different section heads
3. Be agile: Fast-moving and quick to flag emerging and declining trends
4. Ability to implement ideas and strategies to help overall traffic growth
5. Good understanding of SEO tools in the newsroom and ability to use them to maximum effect
6. Passion for news and digital journalism
7. Good team player
8. Some technical SEO knowledge would be a bonus
