THE ROLE
The Creative Producer role is a key part of the video production team within BBC StoryWorks EMEA.
The Creative Producer, on a day-to-day basis will work closely with the Executive Producer, the wider Creative team, as well as and Strategy and Project Management teams within BBC StoryWorks across a multitude of projects — from pitch to delivery.
The role is expected to research, develop, produce, and deliver video content at varying scales using in-house capabilities and by working closely with external production partners across the globe
Responsibilities:
1. Produce distinctive content on a variety of platforms.
2. Work effectively with other departments, suppliers & partners (internal & external) ensuring the BBC maintains excellent relationships throughout.
3. Lead, motivate and support a team, ensuring that the editorial vision is communicated and understood.
4. Responsible for signing off completed programmes or material for broadcast
5. Responsibility for project management appropriate to the given discipline, such as the construction of a full production schedule and budget in conjunction with Production Management and others.
6. To ensure content reflects our diverse audiences.
7. Deputising where appropriate for senior team members.
8. To keep up to date with emerging industry trends.
9. Where relevant, liaise with Rights teams and contract negotiators and ensure copyright and contracts adhere to BBC regulations.
10. Develop and manage positive working relationships with staff, contributors and talent and be able to give constructive feedback.
11. Contribute to the development and implementation of the department’s strategy and policy.
12. Seek improvements in content production to develop further efficiencies in working practices.
13. Accountable for the compliance and delivery of content, acting within BBC Editorial, Legal and Health & Safety guidelines.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA;
14. Strong experience working in branded content production within a branded content studio/commercial production company/ advertising agency, and fully proficient with working with the latest production techniques and technologies.
15. Experience and knowledge of managing financial budgets and production schedules.
16. Excellent editorial judgement and knowledge of the target audience, their needs and expectations
17. Experience of influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively both internally and with external agencies/partners.
18. Highly developed planning and organising skills. Ability to manage several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
19. Proven experience of taking ideas from concept to finished product whilst driving forward creativity.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA;
20. A thorough knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies, or has the desire to glean this knowledge quickly.
21. Understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality.
22. Experience of managing and motivating a team, and actively managing team performance, including talent.
23. Ability to establish effective short and long term relationships with a wide range of people, talent, partners and agencies.
24. Able to lead the team to develop creative ideas which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment
25. Experience in international production is desirable
