Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standards within the bounds of the Protec responsibility. Ensure that product first and last offs are completed and meet both visual and dimensional specifications. Ensure all relevant data is captured and entered onto appropriate ‘electronic’ systems (e.g. scrap, production outputs, tooling problems, downtime, material reconciliation, quality etc) Ensure all agreed safe methods of working are followed at all times and report near misses or Big Six hazards in order to prevent potential accidents. Ensure that a production handover is completed at the beginning and end of each shift. Ensure that high levels of housekeeping are maintained within the factory areas, including cleaning of machines and clearing of unwanted materials. Ensure all waste products are separated into their designated containers. Tool / product change-over times met in accordance with agreed standards. Participate in improvement activities such as SMED, Kaizen (continuous improvement) and 6S activities. Support Production Operators with packing, transport, quality and booking activities when time permits. Work with training coordinator to ensure knowledge, training and development is passed onto relevant Grade 1, 2 and Trainee Technicians, new starts, and apprentices. Selection of job, tool, product and material based on information on the Mattec planning board taking account of priorities and availability. Set up all extrusion lines using relevant data sheets (131) and from scratch. Participate and lead improvement activities such as SMED, Kaizen (continuous improvement) and 6S activities and demonstrate savings. Stopping and starting of all automation processes within manufacturing Responsible for fault finding, technical communication and recording of all relevant information regarding Automation stoppages. In the absence of the Shift Leader take responsibility for the shift regarding safety, problem solving, task setting, priorities, accountabilities, performance management and communications. Leading new tool or product trials and recording information for the trial owner. Drive company values and promote an environment of continuous improvement. Person Specification: Experience setting Extrusion lines. NVQ L4 or equivalent Extrusion setter / technician Understanding of LOLER Knowledge of extrusion line safety and how to carry out safety checks. Knowledge of SMED, 6S and other C.I. tools and experience running projects using these tools. Understanding and experience of Automation (downstream equipment) and advanced Automation fault finding and reporting. Experience setting an extrusion line for HDPE, PVC, HIPS, PP materials from scratch. In depth knowledge of OEE and proven experience of making decisions to positively affect this. Leadership qualifications and experience Experience of running new Tooling trials. Knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental standards for self and others. Self motivated and able to work to tight deadlines as part of a team or individually.
