An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT) for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Sciences Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist to work on rotation through our Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections, with the opportunity to cross train in Clinical Chemistry and Immunology, to help us continue to deliver exceptional, high-quality integrated care to our patients.
The successful candidate will have:
* HCPC State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
* A good understanding of a Blood Sciences Department
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

The post holder will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures on biological samples that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and to develop and maintain competency in all sections of the Blood Sciences Laboratory as required: Anticoagulation, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Immunology.
A 24/7 service is provided for Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. Therefore the post holder will be expected to fully participate in the extended core hours and shift system once competent.

Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.
Worcestershire is our neighbouring county. The post holder will be required to travel between sites.
