Engineering Systems Technician / Night Shift
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineering Systems Technician to join our team at a leading Medical Technology Company in Plymouth, England. This role is critical in supporting our production areas during the night shift, offering a unique opportunity to work with advanced medical manufacturing technologies. As an Engineering Systems Technician, you will tackle technical challenges, facilitate continuous improvement projects, and mentor a team of production technicians. This position operates on a rotating night shift schedule from 11pm to 11am and includes a substantial shift premium, making it both financially rewarding and professionally fulfilling for those who thrive in a dynamic, technically driven environment.
Compensation: £30,000 to £34,000 annually + Bonus + 48% Shift Premium + Matched Pension Scheme up to 10%
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for complex machine-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance.
* Act as the process expert for designated equipment, delivering training and support to enhance team capabilities.
* Mentor and develop Production Technicians, enhancing their skills in fault diagnosis, machine operation, and safety procedures.
* Utilize sophisticated diagnostic tools and software, such as HMI screens and MES, to swiftly identify and rectify faults.
* Drive cost-saving initiatives by implementing improvements to equipment that enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
* Collaborate with the Project and Process Groups in the seamless installation and commissioning of new equipment.
* Lead and manage small to medium-sized projects focused on process improvement, involving multidisciplinary teams.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
* Level 3 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
* Proven experience in a high-volume assembly or manufacturing environment, particularly in roles requiring fault diagnosis and technical problem-solving.
* Strong IT skills with proficiency in using SAP systems for maintenance logging, part ordering, and fault diagnosis.
* Demonstrable engineering aptitude with a thorough understanding of systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and electrical/servo controls.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of mentoring teams and working collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in medical device manufacturing or other regulated industries.
* Advanced certifications or specialized training in relevant engineering disciplines.
* Previous leadership experience or roles involving direct oversight of project implementations.
* Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to rotating shift patterns.
* A proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement processes.
