Job overview
We are seeking to recruit an individual on a part time basis to join the Medical Photography Department at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post therefore can involve travel to, and work at any unit or institution for which the Medical Photography Department has a service provision responsibility.
We are looking for a motivated photographer who ideally holds a Degree in Photography or a BSc in Medical Illustration or the PGCert in clinical photography.
The successful candidate will be a good team member as well as having the ability to use their own initiative and work with minimum supervision, achieving the required quality standards in their work. Good communication skills, liaison with medical and other hospital staff, and an ability to interpret requests and offer professional and technical advice are essential.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of 10 months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder.
Main duties of the job
As a Medical Photographer working at STH you would be expected to undertake a wide range of clinical photography at all of the hospital sites that we cover. You would be travelling to wards and outpatient settings to undertake photography as well as working in the studio which is situated within the radiology department at the Royal Hallamshire hospital.
You would also be responsible for uploading and manipulating images and maintaining accurate patients records and making sure that departmental policies are followed at all times.
You will be working with a wide range of patients and medical professions so excellent communication skills is essential.

Medical Photography is part of the Medical Imaging and Medical Physics directorate which is the largest service directorate within the trust. The department currently comprises of 10 photographers and 1 clinical videographer. The department provides a clinical photography and media service throughout the hospitals in Sheffield.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* BSc / BA or equivalent in Photography
* Registration with Academy of Healthcare Clinical Scientists (AHCS)
* PgCert Clinical Photography
Experience
* Previous photographic work experience
* Understanding of photographic and digital technology
* Computer literate, experience of relevant specific software e.g. Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft office suite.
* Ability to undertake photographic assignments to required standard
* Clinical Photography experience, lighting and positioning patients in a studio or clinical environment
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to work well under pressure, using own initiative
* Ability to participate in planning and organisation of own workload
* Ability to concentrate and give attention to detail
* Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
* Experience of video filming and production
Personal Qualities
* Ability to develop a sympathetic attitude to patients
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and grade of staff
* Ability to work as a member of a professional team

* Hold a current full driving licence/car owner
