The Trainee role involves the authority to refer, admit and discharge within the clinical setting of ED and UCC. You'll be equipped to manage patients who present with unscheduled care, examine, diagnose, treat, refer and discharge appropriately and safely.
Our Practitioner Team will support trainees and provide knowledge-based experience to ensure gold standard quality patient care.
Trainees are expected to complete competencies with the guidance of the team and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development. On completion of the competencies, the role will be a qualified band 7.
Main duties of the job
* To work in a confident and competent manner within their own professional guidelines (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
* Undertake assessment of individuals using a range of different assessment methods, which may include physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests or advanced health needs assessment.
* Draw on a diverse range of knowledge in their decision-making to determine evidence-based therapeutic interventions, which may include prescribing medication and actively monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
* To assume direct responsibility for the management of patients within own caseload and for the supervision of junior members in the multidisciplinary team when experience dictates.
* To appropriately assess, examine, investigate, diagnose and treat patients, resulting in the safe management and appropriate referral and/or discharge of patients within the scope of their professional practice and abilities.
* To maintain own clinical development by keeping abreast of new treatments and technologies within the field of emergency medicine.
* Manage clinical workload, prioritising as necessary and supporting the work of the team, adjusting according to changing clinical situations.
* Liaise with consultants/senior team members in organising work.
* Follow national, Trust policies and procedures and ensure other members of staff do likewise.
