Role: SC Cleared Cost Engineer
Salary/Rate: £ 41 ph (inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid Glasgow - 3 days p/w on site
Contract Duration: 6 months
A Cost Engineer with experience providing cost management expertise within infrastructure projects is required by a consultancy working with some of the biggest government, infrastructure, defence, and security projects in the UK.
This Cost Engineer role is hybrid based between working 3 days per week near Glasgow and the remainder of the week working remotely.
Security Clearance: Security Check ('SC Clearance')
The Cost Engineer role will be a 6-month contract, paying £35 - £41.40 ph inside IR35, depending on experience.
This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.
Essential skills/experience required:
* Commercial, quantity surveying, and/or finance skills, with full working knowledge of the construction industry, and an understanding of NEC4 contracts
* Technical expertise in Cost Management services across complex infrastructure
* An excellent understanding of industry benchmarks / best practices, Cost and Work Breakdown Structures, and methods of measurements
* Proven technical skills to monitor, analyse, and control cost performance against set targets
* Ability to develop and understand performance measurement of projects using Earned Value Management (EVM) and similar techniques
* Major project/programmes work experience
* Ability to communicate cost and performance information to peers, project managers and stakeholders in a way that is understood by all
* Detailed working knowledge of cost engineering functions, cost control and cost analysis
* Experience of working in a wider Project Controls team, understanding the importance of aligning the cost forecast to the Programme
* Detail-oriented and organised, with experience of identifying, analysing, and solving problems
* Good presentation and reporting skills
* Ideally 2+ years' experience estimating
Role Profile / Responsibilities:
* Work with the Project Manager to provide informed forecasts for the Project (for Financial Year and Project Lifecycle)
* Collaborate with the Project Planner to ensure forecasts are informed and aligned to the programme.
* Review and track costs and forecasts to ensure and demonstrate continued affordability.
* Produce Cost Reporting Outputs in a timely manner for month end reporting, inputting into all relevant internal financial systems.
* Attending monthly supplier Project Meetings and carry out associated contract administration as required, via CEMAR.
* Raise purchase and contract requisitions and occasionally receipting invoices within the relevant internal system.
* Assessment and checking on invoices and valuations and providing advice to PM to resolve invoice queries.
* Monitoring cost against change and attendance of the change control/EWN meetings
