Job Advert Falkirk Council waste services are seeking to recruit Casual Refuse Collectors to provide service cover as required. Casual workers enter into a relationship with the Council where they are employed on an as and when required basis to cover service provision or specific peaks in workload. Assisting as part of the Waste Services collection teams within the Falkirk Council area. This refers to collecting the wheeled bin from households and trade customers. You will be responsible for completing scheduled work on the named day of collection. Carrying out assisted collections and assisting the public along with being part of the daily communication and de-brief after each shift. Major tasks include the safe operation of the lifting mechanism on the vehicles, being a reversing assistant for the vehicle, the emptying and return of all refuse containers correctly, looking after the health and safety of you, the team, and the public. You are responsible for checking for contamination and the issuing of hangers. It is an outdoor all-weather job, appropriate work wear and personal protective equipment will be provided. The job operates with planned shifts and has short notice requirements. Hours of work are as and when required and agreed at point of contact. We operate the collection Monday to Friday with a 6.30am start time however this can vary and run into backshift and weekend working. You will report direct to the Dalgrain Depot, Grangemouth, FK3 8EB but if required you will report to where you are required. Please ensure you can attend the Dalgrain Depot for a 6.30am start. The successful candidates will be, physically fit, confident, professional, and calm and enjoy working as part of a team. Experience is an advantage however full training will be provided.
