Flexibility Scheduling Engineering Analyst
Base Location: Glasgow, Reading or Perth preferred; however, we will consider your base 'home' location to be one of our other SSEN offices or depots around the UK.
Salary: £46,626 - £54,154 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

About the Role
SSEN Distribution has an exciting opportunity for a wide-ranging role as a Flexibility Scheduling Engineering Analyst to join our growing Network Operations department within Distribution System Operations (DSO). This role will be at the cutting edge of the development of Flexibility Services for the Distribution Network and will be key to delivering Net-Zero. The role entails forecasting and scheduling Distributed Energy Resources, power flow modelling and representing SSEN at industry level events. In addition, the role will ensure the optimisation of dispatch of the services and our smart grid systems.
Key Role and Responsibilities:
1. Load Forecasting: Using forecasting techniques to predict load profiles on constrained parts of the distribution network. Identify and contribute to the development of new forecasting techniques and methodologies.
2. Industry Representation: Represent SSEN at Industry forums and with internal/external collaborations. Examples of collaboration including ENA Open Networks and ESO Regional Development Plans.
3. Modelling: Model the distribution network using network modelling software (PSSE/Power Factory) to identify exceedance of statutory limits and planning standards. Identifying where, when and how much flexibility Services need to be scheduled.
4. Schedule and Reporting: Schedule Flexibility Service providers to deliver the required service by detailing the flexibility service requirements in line with the standard flexibility agreement. Review and ensure the requested services have been dispatched by the provider. Record and report Flexibility Service dispatch inline with SLC31e Licence condition and DCUSA legal requirements.
5. Curtailable Connection Dispatch Optimisation: Manage Curtailable Connections to ensure they are dispatched in an optimum manner to reduce the curtailment experienced by our customers.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, you will need:
1. Degree qualified in electrical engineering or equivalent power system knowledge.
2. Working knowledge and application of ESQCR, Distribution Code, P2/8 compliance and ENA best practices.
3. Excellent analytical skills to interpret data and present it in a clear and concise manner.
4. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and inform opinion.
5. Experience in power system modelling, Flexibility Services and coding techniques would be advantageous.
