The Opportunity:
To satisfy the needs of our growing client base, Hamilton Lane is looking to hire an Analyst on our Fund Investment & Managed Solutions (“FIMS”) team in London.
As a FIMS Analyst, you will work alongside the investment team to build their investment acumen and will gain exposure to private equity asset managers, called General Partners, by analyzing their private placement materials, participating in in-house meetings and site visits to their offices. You will also work directly with Client Managers on various prospect and client inquiries, pipeline calls, presentations, and portfolio development tasks.
We seek professionals with a pro-active mindset and strong communication skills who show willingness to operate in a deadline-driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity to develop private equity experience as formal training and mentorship will be provided.
Your responsibilities will be to:
1. Conduct due diligence on private market funds and managers and engage professionally with senior leaders in the industry.
2. Take quantitative and qualitative inputs to form independent views, opinions and recommendations on fund investment opportunities.
3. Prepare analysis and draft investment memos.
4. Assist in client work, including running pacing models, assisting with allocation decisions, preparing strategic plans, and reviewing quarterly reports.
5. Respond to ad hoc prospect and client questions and special requests.
6. Help to train others.
Your background and skills will include:
1. 1 to 3 years’ experience in a private market-related role OR deep demonstrated interest in private markets and private market investing.
2. Able to demonstrate examples of being a self-starter with a drive to excel and lead.
3. Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to grasp new concepts.
4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and an interest in financial modeling.
5. Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (other language skills are a plus).
6. Ability to work effectively within a team.
