Job summary Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a fantastic opportunity for band 6 midwives to rotate into the Infant Feeding Team. You will be promoting good infant feeding practices throughout the unit to women and maternity staff. You will be supporting the team to provide infant feeding expertise, education and audit to work towards the level 3 Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation. You will support the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality infant feeding support, ensuring excellent service user experience. Whilst ensuring the timely management and support of any feeding difficulties referring to specialists where appropriate. The post holder will work closely with the Infant Feeding Coordinators, Postnatal Ward Managers, Community Midwives and Matron for Public Health. Main duties of the job ROLE SUMMARY To promote, support, protect and normalise breastfeeding in their everyday practise in line with the Maternity Infant Feeding Policy. To ensure all women receive support and information to allow them to make an informed choices regarding infant feeding. To be able to motivate, inspire and empower staff to achieve best practice. To act as an infant feeding resource within the clinical area, supporting staff to enable mothers to carry out feeding in an evidence based and effective manner. To work closely with the Infant Feeding Specialist (IFS) and the rest of the Infant Feeding Team (IFT) in order to initiate new ideas, practices and approaches to direct clinical care of mothers and babies. To work with the Infant Feeding Specialist and IFT to provide infant feeding training throughout the maternity service for all staff who come in to contact with new mothers so that they are confident to provide a high standard of basic infant feeding care.
