An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ophthalmology service at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our very busy and dedicated admin team.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Senior Medical Secretary and clinical team within the department and also ensure the provision of an effective, efficient and professional service for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to perform a high level of secretarial and administration tasks within the service. You will need to be able to work efficiently, with a high degree of accuracy and work flexibly and confidentially across the Trust independently and as part of a team liaising with colleagues at all levels.
You will have good communication skills and will be responsive to the needs of the service. You will be a point of contact for patients, speciality teams and other departments for all enquiries relating to patients. You will be responsible for the tracking and management of patient pathways in accordance with the national targets.

Person specification
Experience
* Experience of using MS Office, particularly MS Word and Outlook
* Experience of working with the general public and/or professionals
* Experience of working within the NHS and an understanding of medical terminology
* Experience of using Hospital systems, for example PAS (Patient Administration System)
Key Skills/Abilities
* Good standard of written and verbal communication at all levels
* Organisational skills and a flexible approach to work
* Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure to ensure deadlines are achieved
* Commitment to self-development
Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
* Understanding and working practice of NHS performance targets including 18 week referral to treatment times
Education and Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level standard English Language at Grade A-C (or equivalent)
* Audio typing or equivalent experience
* NVQ II or III Business administration
