Main duties of the job
University Hospitals of Leicester are currently recruiting into our pool of Medicines Management Assistants (MMAs).
Our team of Medicines Management Assistants work closely with our Technicians and Pharmacists to provide patient-focused care to inpatients and outpatients. Our MMAs work in various areas depending on service need, including the Emergency Department (ED), Medical admissions, Surgery, Cardio Respiratory, and specialist wards such as Intensive care.
This role will involve providing high-quality medicines management by ensuring accurate and timely stock management and replenishment is undertaken and dispensing of urgent items.
The successful candidate will be required to take part in weekend working, bank holiday working, and evening rotas and will be expected to be flexible to support the requirements of the team.
You will be required to possess QCF/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent, have good oral and written communication skills, and possess good IT/keyboard skills.
Job responsibilities
* To work as part of the Pharmacy Team in providing an efficient, effective, and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and customers at ward level, managing ward and patient drug stocks ensuring adequate stock is available on the designated ward by topping up stock, processing extra requests, and maintaining stock levels and to dispense (within the main and satellite pharmacies) prescriptions.
* In addition to ward activity, you will contribute to the main dispensary service, dispensing medicines for inpatients and discharge including cytotoxic medicines and controlled drugs all in an accurate and timely manner.
* To co-ordinate and process all stock requests for designated ward areas to ensure stock levels are maintained and excess stock is kept to a minimum.
* To identify and pursue personal training needs with the object of improving personal development and performance, and to collaborate in the training of other pharmacy staff as appropriate.
