About Our Client:
We are working with a well-established accounting firm that provides expert services to a diverse range of clients. They are currently seeking a skilled Payroll Assistant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accountancy practice experience, particularly in payroll, who is looking for a new challenge in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process weekly and monthly payroll for a range of clients using BrightPay software.
2. Ensure accurate payroll processing, including compliance with HMRC regulations and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme).
3. Manage CIS submissions for subcontractors and ensure correct deductions.
4. Prepare and submit RTI reports to HMRC.
5. Handle statutory deductions such as sick pay, maternity pay, and pensions.
6. Maintain and update employee payroll records with a focus on confidentiality.
7. Assist with year-end payroll procedures and issuing P60s.
8. Address payroll-related queries from clients and employees promptly.
9. Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
Key Requirements:
1. Minimum of 2 years experience in an accountancy practice.
2. Proficient in using BrightPay payroll software.
3. Strong working knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme).
4. Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC compliance.
5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll.
6. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
7. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with clients and employees effectively.
8. Ability to work independently and handle payroll deadlines with ease.
9. Experience in a payroll bureau or accounting firm.
10. Knowledge of pensions auto-enrolment schemes.
11. An AAT qualification or payroll-related certification is a plus but not essential.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum.
Full-time position with potential for hybrid working (1 day per week) after a 6-month probation period.
