The Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support to project teams, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and the companys objectives. They will liaise with customer representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting
1. Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit level
2. Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place
3. Carry out cost management including forecasting
4. Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans
Processes
5. Help ensure that internal commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit
6. Actively seek to improve processes and procedures
7. Hold a good understanding of the processes and procedures used by any JV/Alliance that we are working within, and assist in their development and improvement
External relationships
8. Help ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for our client, with commercial risks identified
9. Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions
10. Build and maintain good client relationships
11. Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting
12. Prepare applications for payment
13. Liaise with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments
Internal relationships
14. Contribute towards effective interaction between the Commercial Team and the operational site teams
15. Work with site management to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery and ensure that both are kept in line with the target
16. Share best practices with others and be proactive in advising site teams on costs and management of them

Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet the following criteria:
Essential
24. Previous experience in the construction industry
25. HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
26. Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law
27. Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations.
28. Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
29. Have knowledge and experience in estimation and cost analysis.
30. Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
31. Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
32. Ability to work effectively in a team and delegate, but also able to work on own initiative
Desirable
33. Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
34. CSCS card
