We are recruiting for an early-stage start-up based in Oxford who have recently secured their Seed funding. They are building a platform that leverages extensive Oxford University research to bring a disruptive technology allowing culture-free microbiology diagnostics in hours. The technology can identify bacteria and fungi from clinical samples and rapidly produce their antimicrobial profile in under 3 hours, compared to the current standard of 3 days. The success of this technology will ensure a revolution in the microbiology diagnostic space and set the standard for tomorrow.
This is a rare opportunity to join as one of the first employees on a mission to win against superbugs, we need the best and brightest to join us and enable this ambitious vision.
As an experienced Microfluidic Advisor/Consultant you will be working with team in Oxford. You will get to experience building the company with the founders' team.
Experience:
* Experienced in hands-on microfluidic systems development and validation
-> Mechanical characterization (fluid dynamics, structural integrity)
-> Biological characterization (cell viability, purification efficacy)
* In-depth knowledge of various fabrication techniques (e.g., soft lithography, rapid prototyping).
* Experience in scaling from low volume prototyping to high volume manufacturing
-> Demonstrated ability to transition microfluidic devices from prototype stages to scalable manufacturing processes.
-> Understanding of manufacturing challenges and quality control measures necessary for high-volume production.
* Design of experiments (DoE), with proficiencies in:
-> Experimental planning
-> Understanding and deriving insights from complex data
-> Process and design optimization
* Expertise in modifying surface chemistry to manipulate cell or bacteria capture efficiency.
* Proven track record in cell purification and single-cell handling.
* Strategic advisory skills with a focus on innovation and problem-solving
We want to be upfront about the culture we are building here. We are not a family; we are a sports team. Those who join us are united by the common goal of transforming microbiology diagnostics from a culture-standard (today) to a culture-free standard (tomorrow). There is an absolute strive for excellence and urgency. On average, every day we don’t reach a culture-free era, 4000 people die. We want to change that.
