Senior Medical Underwriter (Part-Time, Job-Share and Full-Time)
Location: We’re flexible, home-working contracts available
Hours: Full time hours are 37.5 per week, we will also consider part-time hours

As a Life Medical Underwriter, you'll be assessing Life, CI, and / or Income Protection applications that don't fit our online underwriting criteria. You'll concentrate on making high-quality underwriting decisions quickly. You can choose to get involved in mentoring and developing trainees, specialist underwriting, continuous improvement activity, or being a strategic contact as you progress. We also provide various opportunities to develop your skills, including roles in our Large Case Underwriting team, Underwriting Development team, Underwriting Quality/Retro team, or as a Team Leader.

Who are we looking for?
We're looking for experienced medical underwriters who have a passion for providing exceptional service to join our UK retail protection team.
As a Life Medical Underwriter, you will be able to:
1. Make quality, timely decisions in line with the Zurich underwriting philosophy and frameworks, underwriting applications to a high standard
2. Display excellent communication skills with a broad range of stakeholders, including customers and advisers
3. Resolve positive decision challenges by explaining decisions made
4. Train and support other team members, providing coaching where necessary
5. Help create a culture of continuous improvement
6. Always act with integrity, demonstrating a positive can-do attitude
Ideally, you should also:
1. Have authority to underwrite protection products, including Life, Critical Illness, and / or Income Protection
2. Work well both in a team and individually and be self-motivated
3. Be customer-focused with excellent verbal and written communication skills
4. Be highly detail-oriented with a proven track record of good quality results
5. Possess the appropriate IT skills
