Primary PPA Music Teacher
ASAP Start | Burgess Hill | Spring and Summer Terms
Are you the next Nadia Boulanger? If you don’t know who she is, Google her. If you do, you’re probably exactly who we need.
Sussex Teachers are working with a large primary academy in Burgess Hill to find a part-time (Tuesday to Friday) Music teacher. Your mission? To inspire the next generation of Beethovens, Beyoncés, and maybe even a few Beastie Boys.
You’ll be teaching across Early Years, KS1, and KS2—helping kids discover rhythm, melody, and the magic of making noise that actually sounds good. This gig runs until the end of the academic year, giving you just enough time to leave your mark and maybe even conduct a standing ovation at an end-of-term concert.
The School
It’s a happy, two-form entry primary where teachers, kids, and staff are warm and positive. They’ve recently joined a leading local academy trust, meaning extra support, expertise, and a wider network of colleagues to bounce ideas off. You’ll also have two other specialist PPA teachers (Dance and MFL) to collaborate with—so expect some cross-curricular creativity.
It’s easy to get to—25 minutes from Brighton by car, or a one-minute walk from the train station. No endless commutes.
The Role
* Teach music across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, covering PPA time.
* Plan and deliver a full music curriculum—you have the freedom to make it as exciting as you like.
* Work with class teachers, SLT, and dance staff to create show-stopping musical performances.
* Teach kids of all abilities, from those with natural talent to those who just like hitting things with drumsticks.
Who You Need to Be
* A qualified teacher.
* Passionate about music and passing that passion on to young minds.
* Someone who thrives in a diverse school community and understands how to engage every child.
* A teacher with high expectations and the skills to manage a lively (but well-behaved) classroom.
The Perks
* Paid to scale.
* A leadership team that values professional development and staff well-being.
* Enthusiastic, curious children who actually want to learn.
* A large school with great outdoor space, plenty of resources, and a strong team culture.
* The chance to create unforgettable musical moments and maybe even spark a lifelong love of music.
