Job Responsibilities
* To lead and manage service development and improvement
* Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy
* Coordinate and organise the attendance of patients to outpatient, inpatient & day case appointments in line with local and national Access Policy arrangements
* Ensure all administrative processes and enquiries are dealt with efficiently and timely, following agreed standard operating procedures
* Proofreading clinical letters (please note there is no audio typing in this role)
* Monitor waiting times, ensuring RTT (Referral to Treatment) pathways are accurate and up to date
* Book appointments and surgery dates from waiting lists
* Set up and update Clinics/Theatre Bookings as required
* Assist and support other members of the administrative team across the department or division
More Detail About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our busy Ophthalmology team in the role of Service Coordinator / Team Leader based in Axminster Hospital. This is a newly created position whereby you would be involved in service improvement and development and be a key member of the team.
We are looking for a candidate who enjoys working within a busy and vibrant team, is able to prioritise their workload, and who can remain calm under pressure. You must have the ability to communicate with people calmly, sensitively and effectively both on the telephone and in person.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and leadership of the Axminster Ophthalmology Administration Team. This role is challenging and fast-paced, providing a great development opportunity with full support.

Working Pattern
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, hours negotiable. Friday 8am - 5pm.

Salary
The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later.
