Mission of the Department
The Global Resource Mobilisation Department supports and inspires WWF to increase its public and private resources for WWF’s mission. The advertised role specifically supports the efforts of WWF International’s philanthropic partnerships while sharing learning and best practices across the WWF landscape.
Major Functions
The Philanthropic Partnerships Writer contributes to the team’s production of concepts, proposals, stewardship reports, and other products that will inform, inspire, and present a clear and compelling case for major donor and foundation/trust support of WWF’s conservation priorities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
* Collaborates across multiple teams and stakeholders to develop compelling funding opportunities, technical reports, and other donor communications.
* Review and edit technical donor reports for clarity, tone, and accuracy.
* Collaborate closely with finance staff to secure accurate gift and grant expense information for reporting purposes.
* Partner with the communication manager to track deadlines and deliverables.
* Writes both generic and highly personalized narratives for WWF’s highest-level individual philanthropic partners and foundations.
* Working closely with relationship managers to coordinate the creation of program information to cultivate philanthropic partners.
* In collaboration with the relationship managers, actively supports the development of donor stewardship and prospect cultivation strategies.
* Plans and writes donor communication materials, including newsletters, updates, web pages, etc.
* Support the philanthropy coordinator to maintain and update a Grant Management System.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
* At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3 years specific to philanthropy writing.
* English mother tongue.
* Experience working in an international environment, particularly in an NGO, would be an advantage.

* Understanding of the principles of communications and fundraising.
* Proven ability to create donor-friendly materials.
* Proven ability to write about complex or technical topics.
* Copywriting skills and openness to develop design skills.
* Articulate, creative, flexible, tenacious, and dissatisfied with the status quo.
* Pro-active and able to work independently.
* Attention to detail, diplomacy, and discretion.
* Fluency in French would be an advantage.
* Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural and multi-functional environment.
* Interest in conservation and environmental issues.
* Embraces the WWF mission and values of the organisation: Courage, Integrity, Respect & Collaboration.
Working Relationships
Internal: Fundraising department, Conservation staff, Finance and project finance teams, Communications staff, National Offices, WWF Country Offices.
External: Creative agencies, multimedia production, partners, other NGOs and stakeholders.
